Our Mission

Crossroads Charter Schools prepare and inspire students to build a better tomorrow by providing an academically rigorous K-12 education in a creative, collaborative, community-focused environment.

Our Vision

Crossroads Charter Schools will be the premier school system in Kansas City and a destination for other educators seeking inspiration and best practices. Graduates of Crossroads Charter Schools will be scholarly, culturally literate and service-oriented individuals who will pursue their dreams relentlessly and have a positive impact on their family, their community and the world.

Core Values

Crossroads creates an environment where all students flourish. Our welcoming culture is sought out by those of all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we are committed to ensuring that every member of the Crossroads community is equipped with what they need in order to meet our high expectations. We are a community that reflects our city and our world, preparing students for a global marketplace.

High Expectations

We believe our students and teachers are capable of great things and inspire them to actively seek knowledge and understanding, think independently, reason critically and embrace challenges. School-wide goals and expectations are owned by every student, staff member, parent and board member and equal accountability creates an environment where every student can excel.

Real World Learning

Our teachers work tirelessly to ensure that learning comes to life for students at Crossroads schools. Through hands-on, project-based and authentic learning experiences and downtown expeditions, students explore real-world issues and problems. We strive to create a love of learning in all students.

Creative Culture

Every member of the Crossroads community is a learner and creator. Our students are challenged to be innovative as they solve problems and overcome challenges. Our teachers creatively engage their students, recognizing how each student individually learns and adjusting their teaching accordingly. And our organization uses cutting-edge research, forging and proving best practices, to give our students an excellent education.

An Elementary school is a place where the first social and community life of your child starts… It becomes a second home for boys and girls, all of whom are naturally curious about the world around them, as well as excited about learning. Our school’s curriculum is designed to build on this natural curiosity and to channel the enthusiasm of the boys into a lifelong love for learning, discovery and understanding. Throughout all four grades of our education boys and girls are exposed to a rich, broad curriculum through which they develop a strong foundation of basic academic skills, as well as a vast range of experiences in which they can learn, create and imagine, culminating in the Fourth Grade with opportunities to lead. The program challenges each boy as appropriate and helps develop a love of reading and writing, competence in and excitement about mathematics, and the beginning skills of inquiry and research. The boys explore the worlds of music, art, and drama, giving voice to their creative spirits, and participate every day in physical activities that utilize the boys’ innate need for movement and exercise. Spanish is introduced to the boys in the 1st Grade.
How Our Approach is Different?

In accordance to our school’s philosophy we love to work closely with parents/carers and we recognize a huge importance that choosing a school is. It must be the one where you feel confident your child will be cared for, valued and most importantly will be happy. Your child will then be ready to learn. Staff and governors are all very proud of this school and we recommend that prospective parents/carers visit us during the school day so you can see what a happy, exciting place it is. Each boy and girl is known well by the teachers and much attention is given to providing the best education for him as an individual. With many opportunities for success, he can develop his confidence. Small classes and instructional groups provide the vehicle for achieving these goals. Our elemntary school helps each boy and girl to become a responsible and independent student, one who is a creative thinker, respectful of himself and others, and appreciative of the differences amongst people.
